Sami Boudra began his journey by covering social movements, which ignited his passion for documenting social injustices. His work has since expanded to investigate corruption between France and Mali for the independent media outlet Mediapart and to document the struggle for Catalonia’s independence in Barcelona.

In 2023, he focused on the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, collaborating with the Red Cross in Kherson and engaging with Muslim and Jewish communities to shed light on their stories. For two months, he worked alongside the Hospitallers Battalion, a group of volunteer doctors rescuing and evacuating voluntary units and armed forces in sensitive areas of Eastern Ukraine—Donbas.

In 2024, he signed his first contract to work as a freelancer for the Middle East Images agency situated in New York. He moved three months to Lebanon after the execution of Hassan Nasrallah to observe the impact of Israeli attacks and Hezbollah’s declining power on Lebanon through his long-term project “The Influence of a Party”. He documents the resilience of affected communities and the human cost of conflict, navigating between external aggression and internal divisions. He went then to Syria to document the war crimes of Bashar al-Assad through his long-term project, “When They See Us.” The project highlights the stories of prisoners and the celebrations following Assad’s fall. His work has been published in the French magazine Le Nouvel Observateur, featuring a report on Yaseen Alradi, a freed prisoner who guided him through Sednaya’s prison.
